Furniture and lighting combine forces

One of the newest showrooms to open at the International Design Center in Estero has a new twist.
It’s occupied by two businesses selling different, but complimentary merchandise.
Neela Castana, a division of West Coast Furniture Company (with locations in Naples and Bonita Springs), sells furniture and accessories. Lighting Solutions & Design, Inc. offers artistic lighting and creative installation designs. The company also has a retail store in Fort Myers.
Located on the second floor of the design center, the businesses welcome everyone. Buyers are encouraged to work with their own interior designers, or use the designer on call service provided at the design center.
The lighting and furniture available in the showroom compliment each other. Both have a transitional to modern style with clean lines and sculptural qualities.
Some items are in strong, bright colors. Other pieces are in cool pastels and hues of white.
Shirley Stone, design consultant for Neela Castana, said she saw the possibility for the two companies to work together. She arranged for the owners to meet, which started it off.
The showroom just opened in mid-January. Finishing touches still are being done to walls and other elements of the space, Stone said.
But there is a wide variety of furniture on hand. Neela Castana represents a variety of European manufacturers with a number of pieces from Italy and Spain.
Sarah Barends, creative director for Lighting Solutions, said many of the light fixtures in the showroom are hand-blown glass.
A chandelier of colored glass cones from Belle Meade Hot Glass is inspired by Northwest glass artist Dale Chihuly.
It can be custom made from 15 colors or combinations of colors, she said.
“The size and shape is only limited by the imagination.”
