Analyst optimistic on Martinsville furniture

According to an Associated Press article, Jerry Epperson of Mann, Armistead & Epperson Ltd. in

Richmond thinks the future will be kind to Stanley, Bassett and Hooker furniture companies.
Hooker is closing its wood furniture plant in Martinsville in March while Stanley Furniture is bragging that it still makes most of its furniture at home. Epperson says Hooker’s managers are among the smartest in the business, while Stanley’s strategy to stay at home has paid off.
Bassett has largely cut out the middle man by selling its own furniture through its own stores.
