Fashionable, functional and affordable furniture

WHETHER you are refurnishing your home or have just acquired property, the next step is to purchase furniture in accordance with your lifestyle but without hurting your wallet.

While modern, contemporary is one of the most in-demand types of furniture design in the market, Cavenzi furniture caters to every taste with its vast design selections.

“People should be able to get any design for their homes which they will be proud of,” said Cavenzi chief executive officer Allan Ho (pix), who started the company in 1980, first exporting sofas.

Ho said he decided to venture into other areas after being hit by the economic crisis, and so started a retail outlet.

“At Cavenzi, we have quality, value-for-money furniture with Malaysian pricing,” he said, adding that the company is able to maintain low pricing with the high volume produced.

As in any retail business, Ho said, products need to be functional and fashionable at a price that is acceptable.

“Our products are suitable for those who live in condominiums or even bungalows. We have all sorts of furniture with exquisite designs and styles.”

Citing AirAsia as an example, he said “we want to cater to all and give everyone an opportunity to own their own furniture”.

Ho said some of its mattresses are designed in Australia but manufactured by affiliated partners in China.

“To constantly be at the forefront and stay afloat in any business, one has to adapt to changes and cater to what the consumer wants,” he said, adding that Cavenzi offers new designs every month to keep the brand fresh.

“The products should be marketable at the right price.

“People always have the perception that expensive equals quality, but that is not necessarily the case today, as many of our pieces are affordably priced.

“Our brand promise is that we let our products and prices do the talking.

“Over the years, we have managed to build credibility among the public, and now we are also offering customers extra value with a flexi-payment plan, which allows you to pay for your furniture in instalments.”

He said it is also important in the furniture business to keep the public informed of new arrivals.

Apart from advertising in the newspapers, Ho is also looking into moving to billboards and the internet.

“We want to improve our reach and customer base in all areas,” he said, adding that Cavenzi has 43 outlets nationwide.

Ho owns 18 of the 43 outlets and is looking to expand further.

“We are planning to promote entrepreneurship by franchising more Cavenzi outlets.

“This allows future entrepreneurs the option of venturing into the furniture business immediately without the hassle of setting up from scratch,” he said, adding that the company plans to franchise at least four to five outlets a month.
