Premier Furniture, New Franklin Impact win in 12-and-under softball

Premier Furniture evened its season record to 1-1 in 12-and-under softball last night at Rolling Hills Park by beating QuinlanAgency.com by a score of 18-7.
Premier Furniture never trailed in the game against QuinlanAgency.com and plated six runs in the top-half of the first on five walks and two hit batters.


However, in the bottom-half of the first, QA.com rallied back with two runs on two walks to make it 6-2.
Meanwhile, in the second inning, Premier Furniture came back and exploded for six runs on five walks and a single by Haley Hilden only to have QuinlanAgency.com send four runs across in the bottom-half of the inning on three walks and a two-RBI single by Katie Wood to cut the lead to six at 12-6.
Unfortunately for QuinlanAgency.com, they never got any closer in the ballgame as Premier Furniture added six more runs in the third on five walks and a single by Daisey Scott to push the lead to 18-6. Then, in the bottom-half of the third, QA.com sent another run acrosson three walks to end the scoring.
Clint Poulsen, Babe Ruth softball president, said this game had a lot of walks because of the conditions. “Luckily, we got the game in,” Poulsen said.
Marie Gentry picked up the win on the mound for Premier Furniture while Katie Wood took the loss for QuinlanAgency.com.
In three innings pitched, Gentry struck out eight batters and gave up seven runs on one hit and eight walks. Wood, meanwhile, pitched part of the first and surrendered six runs on five walks. Hannah Verslues then came in and pitched 1/3 inning and allowed six runs on one hit and five walks. Then, to finish the game, Abby Humfeld pitched part of the third and yielded five runs on one hit and four walks.
Premier Furniture also out-hit QuinlanAgency.com., with Daisey Scott and Haley Hilden collecting one single each.
Emily Gerhardt and Morgan Johnston also drove in two runs each while Carley Esser, Marie Gentry, Logan Esser, Kelsie Williams, Lauren Friedrich and Mary Gibson added one RBI each.
For QuinlanAgency.com, Katie Wood went 1-for-2 with one single and two RBIs.

New Franklin Impact held off a rally by P&C Trucking in the final-two innings for a 12-11 victory last night in Babe Ruth 12-and-under softball at Rolling Hills Park.
New Franklin Impact, 2-0 on the season, actually trailed briefly in the ballgame after giving up one run in the top-half of the first on two walks and a single by Courtney Lampson.
Unfortunately for P&C Trucking, they never led again in the ballgame as New Franklin Impact rallied back with six runs in the bottom-half of the first on 10 walks to make it 6-1.
Then, in the second inning, P&C Trucking plated another run on one walk only to have New Franklin Impact explode for six more runs in the bottom-half of the inning on seven walks to push the lead to 12-2.
Needless to say, the game was far from being over as P&C Trucking rallied back with six runs in the top-half of the third on five walks and three more in the fourth on five walks to cut the lead to one.
Poulsen said the New Franklin Impact got out to a large lead, but P&C Trucking made a large comeback just to fall short at the time limit.
Emily Hendrix picked up the win on the mound for New Franklin Impact while Kassie Hester took the loss for P&C Trucking.
Hendrix started the game and pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up seven runs on one hit and seven walks while striking out three. Aly Hundley then came in and pitched 1/3 inning in relief and allowed three runs on four walks while striking out three batters. Then, to finish the game, Kalani Pihana pitched 2/3 inning and surrendered one run on two walks while striking out one.
For P&C Trucking, Kassie Hester pitched 1 1/3 innings and issued 10 runs on 12 walks. Morgan Woods then came in and pitched 1 1/3 innings and yielded two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out three batters.
Cassie Snider had the only hit in the game for New Franklin Impact, being a single, while Courtney Lampson finished the game with a single and one RBI for P&C Trucking.
Emily Hendrix and Aly Hundley also drove in two runs each for New Franklin Impact while Kallie Monteer, Abagail Prewitt, Kalani Pihana and Faith Griffin had one RBI each.
