Furniture First group adds nine members

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Buying group Furniture First’s board approved nine members/stockholders last month.
They are Michael Moss of Bear’s Furniture, Franklin, Pa; Craig Reis of Best Furniture, Fort Thomas, Ky.; David Capperella of Capperella Furniture, Bellefonte, Pa.; Michael Davidson of Davidson’s Furniture, Hornell, N.Y.; Randy Hansen of Hansen’s Furniture,


Atwater, Calif.; Patrick O’Connell of Henco Furniture, Selmer, Tenn.; Sam Jernigan III of Jernigan Furniture, Goldsboro, N.C.; Joe Redeker of Redeker’s, Boone, Iowa; and Paul Thompson of Susie’s Furniture, North Lewisburg, Ohio.
With the new members, Furniture First now has over 135 stockholders with nearly 300 midpriced to upscale stores, doing more than $1 billion in annual sales in 41 states.
At the spring High Point Market, it purchased imported bedroom furniture from SLF. Furniture First has been buying containers for years, but this time its buy targeted one specific bedroom group — with an opening order of more than 20 containers and some two-thirds of the members buying it to date, said Bill Hartman, Furniture First president.
