Furniture sales down in April, report says
Sales of furniture in the U.S. fell 0.7 percent in April compared to March, according to a report from SpendingPulse, a retail data service of MasterCard.
That decline followed a 1.3 percent drop between February and March, the report said. The continuing slump in the housing market has a lot to do with the challenges facing the furniture industry, analysts say.
SpendingPulse data comes from sales activity logged by MasterCard and estimates based on other methods of payment.
