Burned Body Found Behind Furniture Store

JACKSON, Miss. — Workers at a a Wesley Avenue furniture store found a badly burned body Wednesday morning.

Witnesses said the victim had been shot in the head, wrapped in a blanket with the hands tied and set on fire.
“His legs was tied like that, and his hands were tied. He was laying on his back,” witness Roy Holden said. “I was about to throw up. I had to get away from here, so I ran and told someone else.”
Jackson police have identified the victim as 22-year-old Lynell Baughn.
“The body was still smoking — they had set in on fire. They wrapped it in a blanket and set it on fire, and we just called 911,” R.E. Davis said.
