Pulaski Furniture to close last U.S. plant

PULASKI, Va. Pulaski Furniture Corporation says it will close its last domestic manufacturing plant by late April.

The plant employs about 260 people.
Company vice president Lamont Hope says the move is part of an industry trend to shift domestic manufacturing offshore to places like Asia.
Pulaski Furniture will continue to house warehouse, customer service and other operations in Pulaski.
The company says employees will receive severance packages and will be eligible for job placement counseling.
The announcement comes four months after the company — founded in 1955 — announced it would close another Pulaski plant.
One-hundred and 19 were laid off in that move.
