Two 17-year-olds were arrested Sunday afternoon after robbing the owner of a
furniture store on Kennedy Boulevard, police said.
The owner of International Furniture told Jersey City police that the teenagers came in around 3:50 p.m. and asked about the price of a queen-sized bed. The teens seemed uninterested and left, but returned five minutes later, the owner said.
One of the teens pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun and said “give me everything you got,” police said. They fled with $90 and a cell phone, police said.
The teens were arrested outside a store on Martin Luther King Drive after being spotted by police surveillance camera operators. Police recovered $87 from one of the teenagers, the cell phone was found in a garbage can on Orient Avenue, and a black BB gun was recovered in a yard on Orient Avenue, police said.
Both 17-year-olds are charged with robbery, unlawful possession of weapons, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. They were sent to the Youth House in Secaucus.
