New Brussels fabric show set for Sept. 7-10

BRUSSELS, Belgium — A new fabric show, Salon de textile, will launch in the fall in this

city’s Tour and Taxis venue, site of the former TIP show, which has been eliminated.
Trade Link, the new show’s organizer, said exhibitors at Salon will be chosen to meet certain criteria, including high quality. Companies from outside Europe will have to be committed to supplying their export markets.
Salon de textile, set for Sept 7-10, will overlap the Decosit fabric fair at Brussels Expo at the Heysel, Sept. 8-11. Shuttles will run between the two.
Salon organizer Bill Davis said in January that one-third of the space for the show had already been sold. Companies committed to Salon de textile include Boelaert & Moens, Texco BV, Textile Bonding Ltd., Universal Overseas Ltd. and Zhejiang Shengli Textile Co.
“We want Salon de textile to be ‘compact and bijou’ for the first year to ensure that we have the right caliber of companies exhibiting with us,” Davis said. “It’s necessary for us to implement a quality-control process so that the exhibitors’ products meet the high quality standards that international buyers have come to expect, irrespective of the country of origin.”
Davis said the exhibition will cover about 16,000 to 20,000 square feet.
