Comeback for Furniture at Carnegie Museum

The furniture galleries at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh used to plod chronologically from medieval chests and Renaissance tapestries to Rococo chairs and early-19th-century clocks. Material was separated by nationality (mostly British, French and American) and set on pedestals in rows. The galleries, closed for a decade and used for storage, reopen on Saturday and now explore design trends that spread globally during the last five centuries, as well as some unsung, innovative furniture produced in Pittsburgh.
